Pheasants & Quails

Our Whaleback Sporting families, match wits with wily Gamebirds in the most pristine hunting environs in the FINGER LAKES REGION. We are Area 8-N for DEC, on South Hill Rd. Middlesex New York 14507.  Whaleback is near HI Tor Game Management area. this 30,000 acre hill rises high above Canandaigua Lake, known as "The Chosen Spot" by the Seneca Indians. 

With ten groomed private  bird hunting areas in our 600 acre Preserve. Hunters have extended visas and a variety of terrains, all with bird hunting cover. Leasehold Members can Reserve hunting locations with confidence through our reservation system on SignupGenious.com for a private well stocked hunt. Professional Club Guides are also available through  the office with pointing dogs for hunters without Bird Dogs at an extra fee.  Cleaning of Game is available after all Hunts at the Club's Cleaning station. 

When Members buy their birds for hunting the system automatically inventories their hunts and reservation. This unique system allows Members to check the status of their reserved hunting dates and times online through their own Member Log in on SignupGenious.com  website.  Bird Hunting Reservations can be made by members themselves or by calling Bruce Lindsay for advice and assistance 585-943-4698 The season is September 1st through December 15th for fall hunts and members may hunt till December 31st for Quail Coveys and hold over pheasants. Winter hunts are weather dependant when weather permits.

Our Pheasants are large mature Mongolian Ringnecks ranging throughout fields with grasses, sorghum, Reed Canary Grass, and natural bush lots. This is perfect upland cover for enjoying birddogs at their best. Members’ rules stock the ”minimum” for Hunts or Bird Dog Training. We urge members with gundogs to use their own “best friend” for classic Wing Shooting often throughout the fall. 

Guided hunts are available with qualified experienced guides and superb pointing dogs for entertaining large groups. In the fall season, members also find partridge, woodcock, and quail coveys. You will experience the joy of classic Wing Shooting in private fields precisely managed for your sport.

After the hunt everyone returns to enjoy the Member’s Clubhouse designed by hunters to accommodate hunter’s needs for practicality in locker and staging rooms as well as relaxation and fine dining in the Member’s main hall.
